The oak tree that stood in the small lawn area below the house fell into Channing Circle on the night of February 18th. This was at the peak of the huge storm that was pouding the Bay Area at the time. There was no real warning or indication that the tree was loose in its footing and possibly ready to fall. Thankfully nobody was injured and no cars were damaged, but the face and feel of the chapter house has certainly been altered.
Below are some shots of the tree after falling down as well as the look from the street with the tree gone. Efforts to plant a new tree in the area are underway and any suggestions are welcome.
